“This year’s line-up of world-class musicians hail from East Clare, Galway, Kerry, Cork, and Derry,” explains Norah Rendell, executive artistic director of St. Paul’s only Irish music school. “We are excited for this rare opportunity to be inspired by these visiting artists, especially  at the Saturday night concert, June 7th, at the Celtic Junction Arts Center.”

The MIM weekend features four events open to the public, starting with the Kick-off Celebration at the Urban Growler featuring an informal performance by our visiting artists, and an open jam session ($15 includes your first drink). The Friday evening Great Session Experience (free) brings the Twin Cities Irish music community together with simultaneous jam sessions around the Celtic Junction Arts Center. The Saturday evening Master Artists Concert, featuring the visiting musicians, is a not-to-miss event ($30/$35). Closing out the weekend on Sunday at 6pm is an acoustic concert featuring iconic mother-daughter concertina/fiddle duo Mary MacNamara and Sorcha Costello.

The Minnesota Irish Weekend (MIM) offers three programs for children, teens, and adults respectively. The Trad Immersion Camp, for beginning and intermediate children ages 8-13, will be taught by CIM’s talented local teaching artists whereas the Intermediate-Advanced Teen Program and the workshops and lectures (for adults) will be taught by the visiting Irish artists. 47 different adult workshops will be offered in Irish instruments such as fiddle, flute, concertina, accordion, guitar, tenor banjo, bouzouki, and song.
