*The event has already taken place on this date: Sun, 10/20/2024
Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
The public is warmly invited to Lakewood’s annual open-house style Fall Colors event to take a “Legacy of Lakewood Trees” guided walking tour, create a one-of-kind artwork with natural pigments, explore the journey of a tree seed, tie a biodegradable ribbon to the Living Memory Tree in honor of a loved one who has passed, and enjoy live music and free apple cider. Self guided activities, including tours of the cemetery and photo prompts, will also be available.
As an accredited arboretum, Lakewood is home to more than 4,000 trees across its 250-acres in the heart of Minneapolis — which makes it a wonderful place to learn about urban nature and trees and a great opportunity to view the fall foliage without leaving the city!
Rain or shine! (Some activities may be limited if rain)

About Lakewood: A Place to Remember
Lakewood is a serene haven in the heart of Minneapolis’s renowned Chain of Lakes — a place to come together to honor, remember and reflect. Since 1871, Lakewood’s 250 acres of urban memorial parkland have served as a community gathering place and a chronicle of our region’s traditions, cultures and people. A history keeper and a thought leader, Lakewood honors its roots as a landmark cemetery while reimagining its role in modern life, through thoughtfully designed events, experiences and spaces.
Today, Lakewood is making memorialization more relevant, accessible and inviting for new audiences and generations—with more creativity and choices. As a nonprofit organization governed by a board of trustees, Lakewood is committed to preserving and enhancing its grounds and architectural treasures and uses the proceeds generated from activities and events for that purpose. Lakewood invites the public to explore all that it has to offer. Learn more at https://www.lakewoodcemetery.org
